The Hanalei refuse transfer station will not be accepting loose mixed waste until further notice due to a mechanical failure with the mixed waste hopper.
The facility is still accepting bagged trash, green waste and other recyclables including scrap metals, appliances, propane tanks, used tires, and residential used motor oil and motor oil filters.
Additionally, residential recyclables can be placed in the Kauai Recycles drop bins.
The Hanalei transfer station is open daily from 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Green waste is accepted from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and from 7:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. the rest of the week.
