Tatsuo Kobayashi
Tatsuo Kobayashi of Lihue, passed away at home on September 25, 2015 at the age of 78. Born on December 19, 1936, in Koloa, he was a meteorologist technician with NOAA.
He was survived by his wife, Julia Kobayashi; sons Duke Kobayashi of Lihue and Lance (Lisa) Kobayashi of Honolulu; daughters, Darlene (Christopher) of Maryland and Tammy Kobayashi of Lihue; three grandchildren; four brothers, Toshio (Setsuko) Kobayashi of Koloa; Shizuo Kobayashi of Kaneohe, James (Lillian) Kobayashi of Wailua, and Stanley (Bette) Kobayashi of Koloa; sister Kikuyo Inouye of Honolulu; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tatsuo is preceded in death by his parents, Ryuichi and Okiyo Kobayashi.
Private services were held.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Wallace G. Rezentes
Wallace G. Rezentes was born on July 20, 1944 in Honolulu, Hawaii to parents Manuel and Matilda Rezentes. He passed away on September 25, 2015. He grew up in Kapahulu, Oahu where he attended and graduated from Saint Augustine School, Maryknoll High School and the University of Hawaii, where he captained the Basketball team.
He began his professional career working for the State of Hawaii Legislative Auditor, then as a Certified Public Accountant in Honolulu where he worked at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. before moving his family to Kauai in 1972. On Kauai, he became the County of Kauai’s Director of Finance, where he worked for three mayoral administrations. He left the County of Kauai in the late 1970’s to open a CPA firm and work on other business ventures.
He managed the Kauai landholdings of financier Harry Weinberg while running his CPA firm. In 1987 he successfully negotiated the sale of Weinberg’s Lihue Shopping Center (now known as the Lihue Civic Center), current hub of County Government operations. He was also instrumental in starting The Kauai Times Newspaper with other Kauai businessmen.
He resumed his government career as Administrative Assistant to the Mayor in the late 1990’s until his retirement in 2002.
He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather to wife Gwendolyn, son Wallace, Jr. (Pualani), daughter Kimberly (Michael) Brewster and daughter Holly (Trevor) Leayman. He is survived by seven grandchildren: Haylee, Ryan, Nanea, Madison, Kaeo, Karly and McKenna. He is also survived by brother Manuel “Manny” (Yvonne) Rezentes.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 17, at the Co-Cathedral of St Theresa of the Child Jesus located at 712 N School St., Honolulu, HI. 96817. Visitation will be held at 10:00am. Mass at 11:00 am, followed by a gathering of family and friends with light lunch at noon. Aloha attire is suggested.

Marilyn Roach
Marilyn Mieloch Roach died peacefully at the Kalaheo, HI home of her son Richard Roach and his wife Margaret Merryman on September 24th. She was almost 97 years old. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to Elmer & Mary Mieloch who predeceased her as did her three brothers. She was married to Edward Loring Dix Roach II who died in 1988. They had 5 children: Marilyn (Jim) Hogg, Edward Loring Dix Roach III (deceased), Richard (Margaret), Wilbank (Rebecca) Roche and Deborah Anderson (deceased.) She had 8 grand children: Katie Hogg, Sylvie Hogg, Domenica Merryman, Brittany Anderson, Heidi Anderson, Karen Roche, Colin Roche and Kevan Roche. She had 6 great grand children. Among her fondest memories were sailing with her husband and family, skiing and being involved in her daughters’ equestrian activities. Now she has stopped breathing but is, no doubt, “sailing with the lee rail under” into her next adventure. The family expresses deep and heartfelt gratitude to the team at Kauai Hospice and to her care givers.
