Laverne Jean Teves
Laverne Jean Teves, 81, of Wailuku, Maui passed away on September 4, 2015, at Hale Makua in Kahului. She was born on August 30, 1934, in Lihue, Kauai the beautiful daughter of three children.
Public visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Mass will begin at 11 a.m.
Burial will commence in the afternoon at approximately 3 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Makawao.
Laverne was a retired manager from Maui Land & Pineapple Company. She was predeceased by her husband, John K. Teves. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Teves, and Michelle Teves; sons, John J. Teves, Scott (Robin) Teves, John E. Teves; brother, Robert R. Ebinger; 7 grandsons; 3 granddaughters; 1 great-grandson; and 5 great-granddaughters.
Laverne truly lived her faith and spirituality. At St. Anthony she served as an active member of the Lay Marianist, the Charismatic Prayer Group, and Divine Mercy.
She was known for making the authentic Portuguese bean soup for the annual St. Anthony Bazaar.
A precious loving mother to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will forever be in our hearts.

Alvin Yasuo Takaki
Alvin Yasuo Takaki of Torrance, California passed away on September 23, 2015 at the age of 69. He was born in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii on September 28, 1945. He was a veteran of the Army Security Agency in the United States Army.
He retired from the Department of Airports, City of Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Masaji and Alice Miyono Takaki.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Takaki; two sons, Sean (Diane) Takaki and Darin Takaki; granddaughter Keira; and brother Marvin (Lana) Takaki. Eileen N. Buza
Eileen N. Buza of Las Vegas, Nevada (formerly of Kekaha, Kauai) passed away on September 23, 2015 at the age of 72. She was born on September 5, 1943 in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii.
She was a Veteran: Active Duty in the U.S. Army and with Kauai’s Air National Guard. She also was a Radar Operator at PMRF, Barking Sands on Kauai and retired as a GRA at Palace Station Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.
Preceded in death by her parents, Juan “Johnny” Buza and Leonara Baldomero; brothers, John Gary Buza and Kinsley Guillen.
Eileen is survived by her three daughters, Sherry (Al) Emayo, Kekaha, Selena Camat, Cindy (Bojay) Camat-Toki and one son, Gordon “Sonny” (Renise) Camat, Las Vegas; sisters, Sharolyn (Malcolm) Kight, Kapaa and Corliss Griep, Hilo; brothers, Leslie and Lance Guillen, Oahu as well as 21 grandchildren and 19 great -grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on October 24, 2015, at 9 a.m. at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha. Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Refreshments will be served. It was Mom’s request to return back home to Las Vegas.
Nolan Kela Acob
Nolan Kela Acob of Puhi passed away at home on September 15, 2015, at the age of 23. He was born in Lihue, Kauai on November 2, 1991 and was a cook at Rob’s Good Times Grill and bar.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Rani Mae Keohokapu.
Nolan is survived by his mother, Sandra Acob; brothers, Samuel Keohokapu III and Pono Keohokapu; son, Tytan Acob; companion, Kyrstin Watts; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Kalapaki Beach beginning at 10 a.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Lloyd Mallan
Lloyd Jeffrey Mallan passed away on September 22, 2015 at Straub Hospital in Honolulu at the age of 71. He was born on October 26, 1943 in Pennsylvania. Lloyd was a Proprietor for Payment Systems Services.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Mallan, and mother, Lucille Bokser. Lloyd is survived by his companion for 12 years, Sasidara “Toum” Srisuta.
Memorial services will be on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Kapaa Hongwanji Church Temple at 10 a.m.
