KILAUEA — The Kauai Police Department is looking for a Kapaa man who sent two police officers to the hospital last week after he violently resisted capture.
Ray Kuna Harada, 43, is wanted on two separate bench warrants with a total bail of $200,000.
Police located Harada on Tuesday morning along a steep hillside at the end of North Waiakula Road, near a dirt trail that leads to Pilaa Beach in Kilauea. Harada resisted arrest, eventually biting an officer to escape. He then fled on foot into steep terrain with thick vegetation.
Two officers were treated for injuries following the incident. They were treated and released from Wilcox Memorial Hospital later that day.
Police continue their search for Harada and are asking that anyone with information contact police. Harada is considered dangerous and the public should not attempt to make contact with him.
