The 30th Matsuri Kauai was Saturday at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
Hosted by the Kauai Japanese Cultural Society with Pearl Shimizu as president, Matsuri presents Kauai’s Japanese culture, many times enhanced by its adoption in Hawaii lifestyle, as well as showcasing the culture of Kauai’s Japanese sister cities.
Residents and visitors, including a busload from Iwaki City, a sister city for 26 years, and Suo-Oshima, celebrating 52 years of a sister-city relationship, indulged in Japanese food, entertainment, activities and demonstrations.
