LIHUE — The Kauai Committee on the Status of Women will be getting pink on purpose.
And the public is invited to join them.
A Breast Cancer Awareness walk, titled “Paint the Town Pink,” will be held at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Lihue Civic Center, Moikeha Building.
Participants are encouraged to wear anything pink to show support for those affected with breast cancer and to remind women of the importance of early detection.
Comfortable walking shoes should also be worn.
To start things off, an energetic warm-up will be led by Bev Brody with Get Fit Kauai.
Following the warm-up, the walkers will head down Rice Street to Ace Hardware and then return to the LCC.
Brochures and other educational materials about cancer awareness will be available.
Light refreshments will be provided after the walk.
The KCSW is hosting the walk in recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international health campaign promoted by major cancer organizations.
