LIHUE — Life’s Choices Kauai, which is part of the Office of the Mayor, is conducting a survey about services for an adolescent treatment and healing center (ATHC) that will be built off Maalo Road in Kapaia.
The purpose of the survey is to gather information from organizations and individuals who have expertise in a full slate of treatment and healing services for adolescents and their families.
The information collected will be used for the preparation of preliminary drawings and environmental studies for the ATHC.
“Part of our Holo Holo 2020 vision is to work with the community to develop an adolescent treatment and healing center that will provide our young people with a continuum of services. They need this in order to truly heal and integrate back into the community,” said Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr.
Last month, the Department of Public Works cleared the vacant land donated by Grove Farm and a community workday is planned for November.
“We’re going to ask the community to join us for this workday as this is a very important facility for the future of our children and their families and the entire island,” said Life’s Choices Kauai Coordinator Theresa Koki. “When our families are lifted, in turn, the community is strengthened.”
The deadline for the survey is Oct. 9.
