LIHUE — Kauai police have identified the man whose body was found Saturday near the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall as Gary Allianic Jr., 38, of Lihue. Allianic died of injuries sustained in an assault, according to a press release.

Allianic was found early Saturday morning in the parking lot of an office complex by a newspaper carrier for The Garden Island, who called police.
Following an investigation by the Kauai Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau, detectives developed leads that resulted in the arrest of Francisco Keola Manuel, 37, of Lihue.
“Our team of top-notch investigators, with assistance from the Patrol Services Bureau and the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, was able to swiftly apprehend the suspect,” said Acting Assistant Chief Richard Rosa with the Investigative Services Bureau. “Our community is safer as a result of their actions.”
Manuel is being held in the KPD’s cellblock on $1 million bail.
