Yes, we have a lot of culture to enjoy — Kumu Hula Kuualoha Kaulia of Maui was helping Sensei Kaori Shuda of Ka Pa Ku Kauiokuupualehua, a hula halau from Japan, with the finer details of “Aloha E Kauai” between a break from events at the Kauai Mokihana Festival.
They were using the Lydgate Park pavilion where normally the Kauai Powwow hosts its school outreach (Joe Vegas said that probably was the group gathered at the Kapaa Beach Park), and Art Umezu said there were more groups from Japan scheduled to arrive Friday for the Matsuri event hosted by the Japanese Cultural Society of Kauai on Saturday.
Jocelyn Barriga said the Special Olympics Kauai ride is today at the convention hall (maybe they will still be there after the 100th Infantry Battalion memorial service at the Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery?), and Jane Garma won’t be at the Kauai Soccer Association games (Kenny Miyoshi will be there with Masa’s Shave Ice) since she’s in Arizona to visit her kids (which one works at the Sheraton Kauai Resort?).
