Kudos to Joanne Martin, Steve Kline, and all the Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital crew on a great beach outing to the Salt Pond Beach Park. Rhoda Libre dropped in on the event when she found out Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. was going to be in attendance, and Waimea High School teacher and interpreter Cherie Gaither found additional resources for her campaign to raise disability awareness.
Jocelyn Barriga (her Special Olympics Kauai ride comes up Sunday at the convention hall) even came out to volunteer, being able to have time to talk story with Kauai Fire Capt. Gary Hudson and his Hanapepe crew.
OK, time to get ready for the weekend when Art Umezu said we’ll have a group of Japanese visitors who will be here for the annual Matsuri event at 9 a.m. Saturday. Art said they’re even planning on visiting the buoy at the Port Allen Marina complex since it originated from their city.
For those looking for something new and exciting, check out Troy Lazaro, who will do aqua Zumba Sunday as a benefit for the Kauai Bots program at the YMCA pool. It is definitely high energy.
