KAPAA — Kapaa Public Library branch manager Lani Kawahara is going through the library’s collection of children’s books.
“This is a good thing,” Kawahara said. “It means there will be a good selection of children’s books for the Friends of the Kapaa Public Library’s used book and bake sale.”
The annual fundraiser for the Friends of the Kapaa Public Library will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 3 at the library’s meeting room.
They only do this once a year, Kawahara said. Traditionally, the event falls on the first weekend of October. This year, it also coincides with the Kapaa Business Association’s Coconut Festival at the neighboring Kapaa Beach Park.
Members of the Friends of Kapaa Public Library will have a special preview sale from 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 2.
Anyone can join the Friends of Kapaa Public Library, said Isobel Storch.
Children’s books will only be available on Saturday, Kawahara said. Other items in the annual sale inclue books, CDs, DVDs, Hawaiiana and more.
“A lot of these books come from individual collections,” Storch said.
Donations are still being accepted.
