The world of farming and farming as a career is highlighted during the GoFarm Hawaii classes at Kauai Community College.
GoFarm Hawaii at KCC is a non-credit program that offers those with an interest in agriculture a combination of knowledge, experience, and support designed to assist them in becoming viable food production growers through a manner that encourages sustainability.
The GoFarm program, a partnership between the University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, and the Kauai Community College, started Saturday with AgXposure, the first phase of the GoFarm program, where participants will go on extensive, islandwide tours of farms to learn more about successful sustainable farming as a business and livelihood. The tours allow participants opportunities to speak with farmers about their experiences of farming on Kauai.
The AgXposure tour continues on Sept. 26, Oct. 3 and 10. The farm tours are enhanced with AgSchool, the second phase of the GoFarm program, which meets Thursday evenings and Saturdays, Oct. 17 through Feb. 6.
