Lydia Troche
On the evening of Sept. 1, 2015, Lydia Almodova Troche passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home at the age of 99. She was born in Kauai on Jan. 3, 1916. It was in Hawaii that she met the love of her life, Paul Troche. They were married in 1938 and settled in Honolulu where they raised their family. Later in 1960 she and Paul moved to Hayward, California.
Lydia had a love that was so beautiful, powerful and strong for all her family and friends. Most of us know her as an amazing cook, making pasteles and gandule rice for anyone who wanted. She was also an incredible example of faith, hope and aloha. Her belief in God as a devout Catholic showed through in all aspects of her life. Her beautiful smile, cute sense of humor, and very generous heart is a memory we will never forget.
Lydia will be forever remembered by her sons: Louis (Hazel) of the Big Island, Hawaii; Kenneth of Soulsbyville, California; Allan (Rita) of Concord, California; Herman (Michi) of Kaneohe, Hawaii. She will be forever be missed by her siblings; August, Ben, David, Marge and Isabel. She has left footprints on the hearts of her 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death is her husband, Paul of 41 years; daughter-in-law, Barbara Troche; son, Paul Troche Jr.; daughter, Priscilla Richardson; brothers, Louis Jr., Frank, Henry, Daniel and sister, Sophie Kea.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lydia’s life. Please join us at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 46-129 Haiku Rd., Kaneohe beginning at 10:30 a.m. for visitation followed by a Celebration Service at 11:30 a.m. and Catholic Mass beginning at 12:45 p.m. Burial will take place at Hawaii Memorial Cemetery, 45-425 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe at 2 p.m. and luncheon to follow the Hawaii Memorial Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Aloha attire. Flowers welcome.

Margaret ‘Margie’ Itakura
Margaret “Margie” Itakura passed away peacefully in her home in Cypress, California on Aug. 16, 2015, at the age of 85 with her family at her side. Margie was born Oct. 11, 1929, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
She is survived by her two sons, Charles “Charlie” (wife, Laura) Greenleaf and Haruo “Butch” (wife, Elizabeth) Itakura, Jr.; daughter, Kim Itakura; two grandchildren (their spouses) and three great-grandchildren.
Margie enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas and always seemed to come home rejuvenated with a great story about her ‘winnings.’ She loved to prepare elaborate meals for her family and friends and always looked forward to the next ‘get together.’ She worked hard on her crocheting, putting her heart and soul into each piece that would only be given to those nearest and dearest to her. Margie is remembered by her family and many friends as a woman who lived life to the fullest and brought that out in others.
A private celebration of her life was held on Sept. 18, 2015, at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Hanapepe, Kauai. In honor of Margie’s wishes, the family respectfully requests no flowers.
Elsie ‘Lani’ Soto
Elsie “Lani” Soto of Kapaa, formerly of Nawilwili, Kauai, passed away on Aug. 28, 2015, at the age of 74. Born on April 9, 1941, in Lihue, Kauai, she was a house wife.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elsie Nakamura; husband, Louis Soto; brothers, Joseph Nakamura Jr., Mitchell Nakamura and Philbert Nakamura and her sister, Lana Lopes.
She is survived by her son, Elmer Conant; daughter, Beatrice (Joshua) Conant; brother, William Nakamura; sister, Madeline Nakamura; three grandchildren, TJ Morris, Tonja Kane and Casey Delima-Conant; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel. Visitation at 9 a.m. followed by service at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Stephanie Figueira
Stephanie Lynn Tolbe Figueira of Omao, born on Nov. 22, 1951, in Waimea, Kauai, passed away at the age of 63 on Sept. 5, 2015.
She is survived by her husband, William Figueira Jr.; daughters, Kristin (Neill) Domingo and Sheena (Steven) Galbraith; four grandchildren, Mackenzie Domingo, Avenue-Leighn Figueira-Galbraith, Presley-Lyric Figueira-Galbraith and Monroe-Lahbelle Figueira-Galbraith; parents, Jaime Tolbe and Juanita Eslit; step-mother, Marilyn Tolbe; brothers, Howard (Anna) Tolbe, Brandon (Jilleen) Tolbe and Preston Tolbe; sisters, Clara (Gary) Mackler and Colleen (Joe) Bautista; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Stephanie’s life will be held at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m.
The family suggests casual attire.

Joe Shiroma
Joe Riyohei Shiroma passed away at the age of 90 on Sept. 6, 2015. He was born on Jan. 3, 1925, in Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii and was a technician with the University of Hawaii Agricultural Experiment Station. Joe is a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Yoshiko Shiroma; son, Floyd (Lori-Ann) Shiroma of Aiea, Hawaii; daughter, Judy Shiroma of Kapaa, Hawaii; one granddaughter, Naomi Taylor and numerous family members.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Naoya and Kame Shiroma and brother, Roy Shiroma.
Friends may visit with the family at the Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery Pavilion on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with services to follow at 10 a.m.

Rosario Ragasa
Rosario Ibe Ragasa passed away on Molokai on Aug. 30, 2015, at the of 82. He was born on Oct. 7, 1932, in Molokai and was a truck driver with Pacific Concrete and Roinamor Lead Carpenter Finish.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Ragasa; sons, Rogelio (Dina) Ragasa of Kekaha, Felymar (Late Yolanda) Ragasa of Hanamaulu, Rheme (Cynthia) Ragasa of Las Vegas, Marfyn (Marlyn) Ragasa of Hanamaulu and Eldy (Annabelle) Ragasa of Kapaa; daughter, Rose (Mario) Dulatre of Lihue; daughter-in-law, Vangie Butay; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and sister, Josefina (Felex) Iloreta.
Friends may visit with the family at Saint Catherine’s Church in Kapaa on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be followed at the Lihue Public Cemetery.
