PRINCEVILLE — A three-car crash resulted in critical injuries and a closure of Kuhio Highway Monday night in Princeville.
According to police, a Toyota SUV was heading south on Kuhio Highway near the Princeville Airport when it apparently crossed the centerline about 7 p.m. and struck an oncoming Dodge sedan before crashing head-on into a northbound Chrysler van.
The driver of the Toyota SUV, a 62-year-old Koloa man, was ejected from his vehicle as a result of the crash and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital and then medevaced to Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition Monday night. He was reported to be in stable condition Tuesday morning.
The 55-year-old female driver of the Dodge sedan, of Princeville, was transported to Wilcox hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 36-year-old California man driving the Chrysler, and his six passengers, were transported to Wilcox hospital for evaluation. All were released from the hospital Monday night.
Kuhio Highway was closed in both directions from roughly 7 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. during the investigation and to clear the roadway. All three vehicles were towed from the scene.
This crash remains under investigation.
