Three events will mark the International Day of Peace on Kauai.
The first International Day of Peace celebration will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lydgate Park. This year’s event has a United Nations theme, called “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All,” and is sponsored by Interfaith Roundtable of Kauai. It will feature free food, music, crafts, peace reflections and entertainment.
Another celebration will be Monday, the national day of peace, at Storybook Theatre.
The Hanapepe scheduled “Partnerships For Peace International Day of Peace Celebration” will take place at Storybook Theatre’s Sparky’s Garden from 5 to 8 p.m. and will include an international potluck dinner and special messages of peace from Rev. Nicole Sakurai, Rev. Michael Christensen, and Michael Kirjnen. A candlelight walk to Hanapepe Soto Zen Temple and ringing of the bell will symbolize partnerships for peace. Contact Mark Jeffers for more info at 335-0712.
The Interfaith Dialogue “Peace-building on Kauai” will take place Saturday, Sept. 26.
