A free evening of music and puppetry with two nationally known performers is scheduled Sept. 20 at the War Memorial Convention Hall.
Mary Rice Hopkins and Darcie Maze will perform at the 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. event sponsored by Calvary Chapel Lihue.
“We want the kids of Kauai to have a very positive and fun evening, singing songs, laughing and being introduced to puppet characters who present positive character qualities,” wrote Pastor Bruce Baumgartner.
Rice Hopkins and Maze are award-winning artists featured on a special weekly TV program for kids on the Trinity Broadcast Network. Rice Hopkins has over 20 CDs, eight DVDs and six songbooks available, and has written books and curriculum for schools and churches. Maze has also been performing more than 30 years as a puppeteer, and has created her own line of puppets being used in over 150 countries.
Both will be offering a music and puppetry training workshop for those who work with children to teach them Christian values and character on Sept. 21. The training will include hands-on training using object lessons, songs, motions and puppetry. The workshop is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Lihue Missionary Church, and costs $10.
