LIHUE — Drivers, beware: Kauai Police Department officers will be enforcing the reduced speed limit along Kuhio Highway in Waipouli.
Hawaii Department of Transportation officials announced last week that the speed limit has been reduced from 35 to 25 mph.
“While speed limits are set by the Department of Transportation, they are enforced by police,” said Roy Asher, assistant chief of the Patrol Services Bureau. “By notifying motorist of the increased enforcement, we hope they will obey the posted speed limits not only to avoid a citation, but in consideration of their safety and the safety of others.”
