Lawrence ‘Antone’ Carveiro
Lawrence “Antone” Carveiro, of Kalaheo, Kauai passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Straub Hospital on Oahu at the age of 79. Lawrence was the sole proprietor of Larry’s Reel Mower Sharpening. He was also known as Santa Claus at “Candy Lane” (Onohi Lane), in Kalaheo during the Christmas Holidays for the past 25 years. He was retired from Kauai Builders and the County of Kauai where he worked as a carpenter. He was an E-6 in the Army, with an honorable discharge on August 20, 1957.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Adeline Carveiro, Sr.; brother’s Robert Carveiro and Manuel Carveiro, Jr. and Parents-in-law, John V. and Mary Medeiros, Sr. and his brother-in-law, Leonard Medeiros.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Marie Carveiro; daughters Lawrie Woods (Ronald Ellamar), Debby (Leroy) Gatioan and Lisa (Marvin) Fernandez; six grandchildren; Raven Woods, Amanda Gatioan, Branden Gatioan, Micah Fernandez, Skyler Fernandez and Tanner Fernandez. Brother’s Richard (Lydia) Carveiro and Albert (Maxima) Carveiro. Sisters-in-law; Leonora Carveiro, Carol (Thomas) DuPonte and Kathleen (George) Langtad; Brother-in-law; John V. (Shirley) Medeiros, Jr.
Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Visitation is from 8:30 – 10 a.m., with mass to follow. Family suggests casual attire.
Eugene ‘Butch’ Henriques Jr.
Eugene “Butch” Henriques Jr. of Waimea, passed away at Kauai Veteran’s Memorial Hospital on August 15, 2015 at the age of 57. He was born on June 12, 1958, in Lihue, Kauai, and was a Range Operations Manager with PMRF.
He is preceded in death by his brother, James G. Henriques.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Anna Henriques of Waimea; sons, James Henriques of Lawai, and John Henriques of Waimea; daughters, Luana (Kelly) Durston of New Zealand, Nei-Moana Henriques of O’ahu, and Nei-Mahina Henriques of Waimea; three grandchildren; parents, Eugene Sr. and Helen Henriques of Kapa’a; brothers, Manuel (Samantha) Henriques of Kapa’a, and William Henriques of Kapa’a; sisters, Cheryl (Jeff) Kirby of Minnesota, Mary Henriques of Kapa’a, and Ann Henriques of Honolulu; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha, on Saturday, August 29, 2015. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with services at 11 a.m., followed by a burial at the Kekaha Public Cemetery.
The family suggests casual attire and flowers are welcomed.

Gary Miyashiro
Gary “Black” Miyashiro of Wailua Homesteads, Kauai passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2015 at the age of 68. Born on April 12, 1947, he was a retired supervisor for Verizon.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Shinichi and Grace Otome Miyashiro, and brother Thomas.
He is survived by wife, Joanne Fujio; sons Chris Miyashiro of Honolulu, Levi Miyashiro of Wailua Homesteads; daughters Lisa (Dean) Agcaoili of Mililani, Lea Miyashiro of Wailua Homesteads; 1 grandson; brother, Melvin (Gail) Miyashiro of Honolulu; sisters, Patsy Zulawski of El Paso, Texas, Janet (Roger) Neaves of San Francisco, Judith (Larry) Sallee of Fremont, California, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Kapaa Hongwanji Church. Visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m. The scattering of ashes will take place at a later time.
The family requests donations are made in memory of Gary to the ALS Association Golden West Chapter, P.O. Box 11284 Honolulu, HI 96828.

Dennis Isao Wasano
Dennis Isao Wasano of Kapaa, Kauai passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on August 17, 2015, at the age of 73. He was born in Kapahi, Kauai on October 27, 1941 and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired as a cook and enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Megumi and Akiyo Wasano; brother, Rodney Wasano and sister, Gladys Matsumoto.
He is survived by his wife Mary Wasano of Kapaa; son, Derek Wasano of Kapaa; daughters, Melissa (Ben) Brown of Kapaa, Marnie Wasano of Honolulu 3 grandsons, Isaiah Tomacder, Dylan Wasano, Lawakua Brown; brothers, Gary (Karen) Wasano of Wailuku Maui, Richard Wasano of Virginia; uncle, Robert Kunichika; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Wasano family with arrangements.
Juana Espino Domingo
Juana Espino Domingo of Kekaha, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on August 14, 2015 in Honolulu, Oahu at the age of 83. Juana was born on May 12, 1932 in Kealia, Kauai. She was a receptionist/records Clerk with Waimea dispensary.
Juana is survived by her husband, Sylvester Domingo; sons, Sylvester (Donna) Domingo, Steven Domingo; daughters, Regina (Cornel) Manlic, Rowena Chong; 3 grandchildren, Jeremy Chong, Adam Manlic and AnaLisa (Todd) Yanagi and 1 great grandchild, Leana U. Manlic Yanagi; brothers, Placido (Esther) Espino Jr., Raymond Espino Sr., Antone Espino; sisters, Mercedes (Andy) Gorospe, Julia McCullen, Alfonsa Maligro, Geraldine (Eliseo) Dureg as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family on Monday August 31, 2015 at Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church, Kekaha. Rosary at 8:00am followed by visitation at 8:30am and Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial at 12:30 p.m. at Kauai Memorial Gardens, Lihue.

Margaret ‘Michie’ Kamiya
Margaret “Michie” Kamiya of Wahiawa, Oahu, passed away on June 19, 2015 at the age of 92. “Michie” was born July 2, 1922 in Lihue, Kauai. She was a floral packer of Rusy’s Florist in Wahiawa, Oahu.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Genko “Squash” Kamiya and son, Shane R. Kamiya.
“Michie” is survived by her brother, Llewellyn Ouye; son, Allan S. Ouye; daughters, Donna R. Hamilton and Stephanie S. Rodrigues and well as 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
