LIHUE — A 48-year-old construction worker is in stable condition after he was struck by a pickup truck while working along Hardy Street in Lihue Wednesday.
The Kapaa man had been working on the Hardy Street Improvement Project, fronting the Lihue Library, when a Ford pickup truck struck a plastic barrier approximately 10:30 a.m. before striking him, propelling him several feet from where he had been standing. The truck then ran over a portable generator before coming to a stop along the sidewalk.
The victim was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the truck, 41, of Koloa, was not injured.
No arrests have been made at this time; however, and investigation continues.
Hardy Street was closed from roughly 10:45 to 11:30 a.m.
