Ralph Suniga said he’s been helping with the Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair for a long time (he’s also helped high school athletics for just as long). He was helping Edmund Villanueva with the wiring for the fair Saturday, bringing back memories of when Soupbone Kashiwabara used to do all that.
Kelly Gooding said he was getting worried because everything was moving so smoothly. He said like any farmer, you start worrying when things move smoothly. But no worries because there were so many old hands like Jerry Ornellas, Johnny Gordines, Roy Yamakawa and Randy Yokoyama around to make sure things go smoothly.
Ale Quibilan, recently retired from the Kauai Police Department, said he’s volunteered to help the Farm Bureau. He was shopping the county’s sunshine market (Dan Fort had a black shirt on such a hot day?), Friday following a meeting with the Kauai Civil Defense on the matter of Hurricane Hilda which is spinning around out there.
This is it — the fair opens Thursday from 6 p.m. (hurricanes, stay away!).
