In the last 10 years, the genre of fantasy novels has gained a vast new-found popularity with the influence of the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter films, and the Game of Thrones television series. Readers have been thrilled to see their favorite books come to life and to be able to share their favorite genre with the rest of the world.
In turn, the readership of these fantasy stories has grown immensely and the demand for new authors and high-quality in-depth storytelling has grown with it. One of these wonderful new award-winning authors is Patrick Rothfuss and we are featuring the first installation of his multi-part saga, “The Name of the Wind (Book One of the Kingkiller Chronicle).”
Readers will become absorbed in this excellently written saga with complex characters and brilliant plot twists in his skillfully realized setting in which the story takes place.
The story follows in the first person narrative of a mysterious young man, Kvothe, who grows to be the most notorious magician his world has ever seen. Kvothe’s story begins with him as a destitute vagabond child and we follow him as he recalls the incredible events of his life.
Through brilliant cunning he learns to fend for himself, and then soon is drawn to a highly secretive school of magic where he finds a way to be accepted and begins to learn secrets and talents he could not have imagined. The path he starts on will take him (and you the reader) into wild places and stunning events.
It is understandable why folks ask us all the time for this author at our bookstore, and we expect it won’t be long before someone options his excellent work for a series or a film.
