The Kawaihau Community Little League Intermediate 50/70 team will face Europe-Africa Thursday at the Little League Intermediate 50/70 Baseball World Series at the Max Baer field in Livermore, California.
Led by coach Justin Malina, the Kawaihau squad represented the West after winning the regional tournament last week in Nogales, Arizona.
They dropped their opening game to the Central winner, 9-5 and lost its second match 6-1 to the East after being held to just two hits, one from Kainoa Cardinez who also chalked up an RBI in the match.
With an 0-2 record at the World Series, Kawaihau goes up against Europe-Africa, also 0-2 after losing to Asia-Pacific 17-0, and Latin America 7-5.
Distances from the pitcher’s mound to home are 50 feet, and base paths are 70 feet, larger than the Little League that plays its World Series on national television in Pennsylvania.
First pitch goes off at 9 a.m. Hawaii time.
