Rosita Simpliciano
Rosita Agurilla Simpliciano of Hanapepe, Kauai, passed away on June 18, 2015, at the age of 89 at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Jan. 18, 1926, in the Philippines. Rosita was a retired Kitchen Helper.
She is preceded in death by her husband Luis Simpliciano.Rosita is survived by her five daughters; Carlina Butay, Perla (Balthazar) Duldulao, Elma (Harold) Goldberg, Luz (Rick) Alejo, and Noemi (Efren) Pacol; five sons, Ben (Sally) Simpliciano, Manny (Pacita) Simpliciano, Arte (Natty) Simpliciano, Russell (Erlinda) Simpliciano and Manuel (Tina) Simpliciano. She also is survived by her siblings, Perpetua (Teofilo) Pascual, Ester Ramos, Emerinciana Agurilla, Florencia (Leonardo) Bayudan, Alfredo Agurilla and Emiliano Agurilla; 26 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 8 till 9:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kauai Mortuary.
Elijah Bautista
Elijah Caleb Bautista of Hanamaulu passed away in Kapiolani Memorial Hospital for Women and Children on July 10, 2015, at the age of 3 months. He was born in Honolulu on March 29, 2015.
He is survived by his parents, Rory and Catherine Bautista; three brothers, Juvann Lerry Bautista, Seth Dominic Bautista, Errle Dustin Bautista; maternal grandparents, Juanito and Leonora Menor all of Hanamaulu; paternal grandparents, Jovencio and Fe Bautista of the Philippines; numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Lihue Cemetery.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Bautista family with arrangements.
Kathy Louis
Kathy Joy Denise Louis, 54, of Omao, Kauai, passed away on July 3, 2015, at Straub Hospital. She was born on July 17, 1960, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was a Baker with Koloa School Cafeteria.
Kathy is preceded in death by her mother, Emily Keoho Aucion; grandmother, Elizabeth Haluapo; sisters, Makalapua Haluapo, Hattie Telles, Marylyn Gerardo and Rose Leilani Garcia; brothers, Ioane, Kawano Haluapo, Albert Keoho, Sr.; guardians, James, Mary Gerardo and granddaughter, Ivy Louis.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew Louis; daughter, Bridget Louis; son, Matthew (Rosanna) Louis; grandson, Anthony Louis; granddaughter, Lily Louis. Kathy also is survived by her sisters, Joyce (Terry) Daligdig, Alison (Clayton) Silva, Sr., Brenda (Rey) Coloma; brothers, Wayne Sees, Howard Sees, James Gerardo, Alan Gerardo, Brian (Shanell) Gerardo, Clifford (Dannette) Lee, Edward Keoho, Sr., David (Bruna) Lam and Francis Lam; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, auntie, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 24, 2015, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Lihue First Church at 10 a.m. Services and Inturnment to follow.
The family is being assisted by Borthwick/Kauai Mortuary.
Dallace Burton
Dallace Craig Burton of Hanapepe, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away at home on July 19, 2015, at the age of 55. Born on Oct. 17, 1959, in Royal Oak, Michigan, he was a program support speacialist with Saalex.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dallace L. Burton and brother, Phillip Burton. He is survived by his sons, Cole Burton of Waimea, Kauai, Troy Burton of Waimea, Kauai; mother, Shirley Bostick of Mississippi; brother, Michael Burton of Belmont, Mississippi; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family for a celebration of Dallace’s life on July 25, 2015, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Family requests casual attire.

Chiyo Ueunten
Chiyo Ueunten of Kalaheo passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on June 28, 2015, at age 88. She was born in Koloa to the late Ushi and Kamato Gushiken on Sept. 15, 1926. She is survived by husband, Sensuke; sons, Paul (Bobbie) of San Jose, California, David (Lei) of Honolulu, Gary (Glenna) of Lawai, Wesley (Julie) of El Cerrito, California, sister, Harue Oshiro of Waipahu and eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Kyle, Brett, Amy, Trent, Christina, Teresa and Lyle.
Chiyo graduated from Koloa School 1941, Kauai High School 1945, UH Bachelor of Arts 1950, UH Certificate in Social Work 1951. She worked as a Social Worker and as School Counselor at Kalaheo and Kauai High School. Her comforting presence and loving support of family, friends and community will be missed.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at Koloa Union Church in Koloa. Visitation starts at 10 a.m., Service at 11 a.m. followed by Lunch. Inurnment will be at the Koloa Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
Francis Ferreiro
Francis Allan Ferreiro of Austin, Texas passed away on Dec. 30, 2014, at the age of 64. He was born on March 4, 1950, in Lihue, Hawaii.
For many years he lived in Los Angeles, California, and Austin, Texas, where he retired as a managing Electronic Engineer and also owned Kika Toner.
He is the son of Lawrence A. “Larry” and Joyce H. Ferreiro, who predeceased him. He is survived by his sister, MaBel Ferreiro (Chief ret. Brian S. Fujiuchi) and his children, Sean (Sharon) of Lake Elsinor, California, Charlotte Murphy of Austin, Texas, Kimberly (William) Mitchell of Buda, Texas and Joseph Ferreiro of Austin, Texas; as well as grandchildren Michael Ferreiro, Gweni Murphy, Ashley Murphy, Jason Murphy, Mya Mitchell and Liam Mitchell.
Services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015, at St. Catherine Church in Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii, with visitation starting at 9 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery and scattering of ashes following, fronting Kaiakea Lookout.
Services were earlier held on Jan. 8, 2015, at Trinity Chapel Church, Austin Texas with arrangements by Solace Mortuary, Austin Texas.
Hazel Yong Kawada
Hazel Yong Kawada passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on July 5, 2015, at the age of 85. Born on June 28, 1930, in Hanalei, she was a front desk clerk with Coco Palms and a coordinator for the museum.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pon Lee Yong and Bernice K. Akui and sister, Levinia “Maka” Kaauwai.
She is survived by her husband, Masami “Pop” Kawada; three sons, Clayton (Aurora-Ann) of Kapaa, Wilbert (Sun U) of Washington, Randall (Debbie) of Kapaa; daughter, Cathy Ellen (Ichiro) Nakamoto of Japan; two grandchildren, Andrew (Mona) Kawada and Aaron (Abigail) Kawada of Oakland, California; two great-grandchildren, Drew and Aiden Kawada; brother, Pak Sheong “Porky” Yong of Waimea; sisters, Gloriana “Nani” Lane of Mililani, Oahu, Alice Pacheco of Kilauea; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Hazel’s life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at the Kapaa First Hawaiian Church.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with services to follow at 10 a.m.
Family suggests casual attire and to please omit flowers, but leis are welcomed.

Trinidad Pascua
Trinidad Vea Rivera Pascua of Puhi passed away in Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on July 17, 2015, at the age of 92. She was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, and was a dedicated homemaker.
Trinidad is preceded in death by her husband, Francisco R. Pascua; parents, Marciana Vea and Jose Rivera; siblings, Avelina Asuncion Galapon, Juan Asuncion, Mauricio Asuncion, Ambrocio Asuncion, all of the Philippines and cousin, Andrea Sagisi of Hawaii.
She is survived by her sister, Rosalia Vea (Tomas) Asuncion of the Philippines; niece, Sandra (Kendall Moser) Sagisi Moser; grandniece, Ashley (Michael) Munguia; cousin, Miguel (Carol) Asuncion; hanai friend Ophelia Manibog; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Richard Ragudo Jr.
Richard J. Ragudo, Jr. of Kapaa passed away on July 10, 2015, at the age of 51. He was born in Lihue on Nov. 18, 1963, was an avid diver and fisherman and was a Mason by trade.
He is survived by his parents, Richard and Dolores V. “Dolly” Ragudo, Sr.; four brothers, Terence (Corrine), Paulino (Puni), Randy, Quinten (Malia); seven children, Kaikoa, Tasha, Shauday, Shai, Jedidiah Ragudo, Jacob and Triton Lombardo; six grandchildren; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Aug. 15, 2015, at St. Catherine Church with visitation from 9 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m.
