KOLOA – The wooden pedestrian bridge located alongside the Wailana Bridge on Maluhia Road at the entrance to Old Koloa Town will be replaced, county officials announced.
The project will begin on Monday and is targeted for completion in January, weather permitting. Work hours will be from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
While the work is underway, one lane of Maluhia Road may be closed periodically.
The work involves removing the existing bridge, constructing abutments and installing an 8 foot by 90 foot prefabricated metal bridge.
The contractor Kaikor Construction Co. Inc. will take a break from the project from July 17-27 during the 30th annual Koloa Plantation Days.
The cost of the project is $250,000.
