LIHUE — Malama Pono Health Services will open its new location Thursday in the Kukui Grove Health Center, suites 205 and 207.
“The move to the new location was necessitated by the growth Malama Pono Health Services has realized over the past few years,” said Mistee Bailey Myrick, the Malama Pono executive director. “As our programs and services expand in the community, demand has risen — quickly. Our new office space is 50 percent larger than our current location. It also offers a more efficient layout.”
Malama Pono is the sole provider on Kauai for HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted diseases by providing testing and treatment for individuals and their loved ones who are infected with, or affected by these diseases.
With the additional space at its new location, Malama Pono Health Services will be providing women’s health care services, and expanding prevention education, featuring its Fatherhood & Families program.
“The move will support our continued growth and expansion as well as provide a better work environment for our current and future staff,” Myrick said. “I think it emphasizes our commitment to both our customers and our employees.”
Malama Pono will be at 4366 Kukui Grove Street, close to the Kukui Grove Cinema. Suite 205 will house the clinical lab, testing and examination rooms, and the prevention education staff. Suite 207 will house the administration staff and the in-house food pantry.
Malama Pono Health Services will be closed Monday through Wednesday to accommodate the move from its current location on Rice Street. It will re-open Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with testing hours from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
