Lava’s on Poipu Beach is often called the “hot spot” of the beach and with its cool atmosphere, grand ocean view and delectable cuisine, it’s easy to see why.
“Everybody’s here to have a great time and you’re here to make that happen,” said Jacob Vogelgesang, Sheraton Kauai Resort beverage manager.
Located at the Sheraton Kauai Resort, Lava’s was established during the hotel’s renovation in 2012.
The open-air restaurant offers a refreshing and family-friendly atmosphere with glass walls, which provide for a relaxing view of the Pacific Ocean.
The outlet doesn’t just offer a comfy indoor atmosphere. It has shaded bungalows next to the pool.
Lava’s is open for breakfast and serves dishes like the eggs Benedict, sauteed peppers and onions for toppings, shredded kalua pork, and cheddar cheese.
For lunch, Lava’s offers the Poipu’s ahi lavawich on nine-grain deli bread with Swiss cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, alfalfa sprouts and stone-ground mustard.
Dinner features menu items like T-bone steak with garlic Parmesan fries, sauteed green beans and Lava’s chili peppers.
The drink menu includes guava mimosas, the Southside Mai Tai with Anos Rum, Bacardi Gold and orange Curacao and the Tropical Cruiser that features mixed vodkas with lime, passion, orange and guava juice.
Live entertainment runs Monday through Saturday and includes slow Hawaiian guitar by Kyle LaBenz and Cory Waialeale and the Aulii Luau on the beach lawn.
“(It’s) really a place that has a lot of energy and life so people can relax on the beach and enjoy their family, friends and company and when they want to come in to have a cold refreshing cocktail or watch the sporting event,” Vogelgesang said.
Lava’s on Poipu Beach is open for breakfast 7 until 10 a.m. daily with the breakfast buffet open until 10:30 a.m. Lunch and poolside service are open daily from 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. with an open bar until 6:30 p.m. Dinner is available on Sunday and Monday from 5:30 until 9 p.m.
