LIHUE — The Kauai Chamber of Commerce will hold its first mayor’s luncheon later this month, featuring special guest speaker Bernard Carvalho, Jr.
The mayor will share his accomplishments in office and provide an outline of his goals for the island.
The event will take place Tuesday, July 21 at the Kauai Beach Resort in the Jasmine Ballroom. Check-in and networking starts at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and the mayor’s speech to follow.
Kauai Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President Caroline Texeira said the decision to hold the event came about as part of the chamber’s commitment to develop and keep a good working relationship with government officials. Texeira said the luncheon will also provide a good opportunity for chamber members to network with county officials in a neutral environment.
“It is the chamber’s mission to assist our members in a variety of means to help them grow and develop,” Texeira said.
Last month, the chamber held a luncheon featuring Gov. David Ige during his first visit to the island since being sworn into office, which sold out.
Deadline to register for the mayor’s luncheon is July 17. Cost is $40 for members who register early. It goes up to $50 after Tuesday. The price is $60 for nonmembers and those who register at the door.
