As the summer sun shines down on Kauai, Jojo’s Anuenue Shave Ice and Treats in Waimea has everything people need to beat the heat.
“I feel good about it,” Jojo’s Anui Nui manager Sandra Koerte said. “My favorite part of being involved with Jojo’s is being right there in the heart of town and being able to reach out into the community and seeing the smiles on the kid’s faces when they get their shave ice.”
Established in the ‘90s, Jojo’s Anuenue offers a place for students to gain work experience for their future careers.
As guests enter Jojo’s shave ice shop, they are greeted with a sweet and fun atmosphere, in addition to a friendly staff.
Hawaii’s version of a snow cone, shave ice is a refreshing syrup-dipped treat. There area a multitude of fun flavors from the exotic lilikoi, mango and banana to cake batter, red velvet and butterscotch.
Guests can have three flavors added to their shave ice and can have vanilla or macadamia nut ice cream added onto their treats as well.
However, the fun doesn’t stop at shave ice. There are also milkshakes, bubble drinks, smoothies, frosties and snow shaves.
Shakes come in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry will greet them. Candy, including Twix, Snickers and Butterfinger, can be added to the mix. Another popular item are bubble drink flavors of honey dew, coconut, strawberry and peach in addition to the smoothies which consist of strawberry, strawberry banana and acai.
The snow shave is a frozen block of milk and flavor. There’s no need for syrup here as the block already has all it needs to refresh its guests and once it’s been shaved down, it just needs to be enjoyed.
“We try to have a good time and I try to keep everyone on task,” Koerte said. “We try to keep it more lively in there.”
Jojo’s Anuenue, 9899 Waimea Road, has 60 flavors of syrups for their treats.
Hours are 10:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily.
