The body of a missing Makaha diver has been recovered 23 miles southeast of Nawiliwili early Friday afternoon.
Harold “JJ” Jackson, 52, was reported missing Monday evening after diving a mile off Makaha Beach Park in Oahu.
Reports said Jackson was diving with a friend several yards offshore, but he did not resurface at the end of the dive.
According to reports, the Coast Guard said a crew on a commercial tug transiting from Kauai to Oahu saw a strobe light attached to Jackson’s buoyancy control device at 5:20 a.m. Friday.
The abandoned buoyancy control device prompted officials to search for the missing diver and find his body about 1:15 p.m.
