American blues rock band Hot Tuna is bringing its acoustic blend of original and traditional blues and roots music to Kauai on June 20 as part of the band’s Acoustic Duo Hawaii Tour.
The tandem of Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady is expected to play songs from their most recent album, “Steady as She Goes,” as well as tunes from their 1996 album “Classic Hot Tuna Acoustic.”
Kaukonen and Casady, both members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, met in the 1950s in Washington, D.C., in high school and originally were part of the band Jefferson Airplane. While on tour in 1969, Kaukonen and Casady created Hot Tuna.
The duo has performed with artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and the Grateful Dead.
Hot Tuna will perform at Kauai Community College Peforming Arts Center. The doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $45 at the door and $40 in advance.
