LIHUE — A Princeville man accused of attempted second-degree murder has a jury trial scheduled July 27.
Kyle Matthew Welch, 27, was arrested Jan. 9, 2014 for injuring a 42-year-old man with a machete, and threatening another man at Anini Beach. He is facing attempted second-degree murder and first-degree terroristic threatening charges.
The case was put on hold in February in order to determine if Welch was fit to proceed trial. Welch has since been determined fit to proceed.
Welch’s bail has been set at $750,000.
Judge Randal Valenciano will be presiding over the jury trial at the Fifth Circuit Court.
