LIHUE — Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash early Monday morning in Nawiliwili.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 37-year-old Lawai man was struck by a white SUV near the Kalapaki seawall along Nawiliwili Park about 1:45 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy is pending.
The 34-year-old driver of the SUV was in police custody. He has not yet been charged.
