LIHUE – Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred early Monday morning in Nawiliwili.
According to a preliminary investigation, at approximately 1:45 a.m., a 37-year-old Lawai man was struck by a white SUV near the Kalapaki seawall along Nawiliwili Park. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy is pending.
The 34-year-old driver of the SUV is currently in police custody. He has not yet been charged.
