National Tropical Botanical Garden has been declared the Best Public Garden by Sunset magazine, the premier guide to living in the West.
NTBG’s Kauai gardens are one of 30 winners of the first-ever Sunset Travel Awards, which honor the West’s top destinations in lodging, dining, cultural tourism, outdoor adventure, environmental stewardship, and more.
Limahuli Garden and McBryde Garden, along with all the winners of the 2015 Sunset Travel Awards, are currently featured in the June issue of Sunset magazine and on Sunset.com, reaching six million consumers per month.
NIBG is a nonprofit institution dedicated to plant discovery, research, conservation, and education.
It has nearly 2,000 acres in five gardens and five preserves, primarily in the Hawaiian Islands. McBryde Garden is NTBG’s flagship garden, located on the South Shore of Kauai.
Plants from all over the tropical world are protected here and include the largest collection of Hawaiian native species with an emphasis on rare and endangered.
Limahuli Garden is on the North Shore of Kauai. Ancient taro terraces, native species, and Polynesian-introduced plants can be found there, backdropped by a protected preserve.
