LIHUE — Jason Blake can’t wait for people to experience the talents of three of Kauai’s pianists as they perform at Kauai Community College during “A Night of Piano.”
“It’s a great program,” said the president of the Kauai Concert Association, “I mean there’s a lot of good buzz on the island. I’m excited to watch it and help host it.”
KCC’s Performing Arts Center will play host to pianists Dr. Timothy Lee, Dr. Jean Shein and Hank Curtis as they showcase their talents on Saturday.
“Dr. Shein and Dr. Lee are both optometrists on the island so it’s kind of neat for the island people to get to see their doctors perform on the island,” Blake said. “Hank is considered by many to be the finest pianist on Kauai.”
Lee, Shein and Curtis will perform a majority of piano pieces from classical works to pop standards. Guests are invited to enjoy champagne, wine, coffee and desserts after the performance and mingle with the artists.
“It’s the finest stage on the island,” Blake said about the PAC. “Even professional pianists who come from off island enjoy that location and piano more than they do on Oahu.”
The PAC will open its doors at 6:30 p.m. with the concert at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Proceeds will benefit the KCA.
Tickets may be purchased at the door, and in advance at the Magic Dragon in Princeville, Kauai Music and Sound in Kapaa, Pictures Plus in Kukui Grove, Island Soap and Candle in Koloa, the Wine Shop in Koloa and Kalaheo Cafe in Kalaheo.
