Adam Ronald Brun Jr.
Adam Ronald Brun Jr. of Kalaheo, Kauai passed away on May 6, 2015, at the age of 51. Born on January 25, 1964, in Lihue, Kauai, he was a firefighter stationed at the Lihue Airport Crash Fire Department. He became an avid cowboy starting with 4-H events on Oahu. He was a skilled farrier who felt it a calling to correctly balance shoes on each horse. He taught his farrier and rodeo skills to anyone who was willing to learn. His famous words “pay attention” will be remembered by those he taught.
He was preceded in death by his father, Adam Ronald Brun Sr.
He is survived by his children, Alana (Darren) Agustin, Waylon Brun, Kierra Bukoski; granddaughters Aaliyah and Dakota Agustin; mother, Glenda Vierra; siblings, Robert (Lorna) Brun, Rhonda Brun, Stephanie (Bambridge) Aona, Leona Brun, Shana (Lance) Ling and Angela (JJ) Prigge; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.
A celebration of Adam’s life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at St. Raphael Church, 3011 Hapa Road, Koloa. Visitation with family will be 8 to 10 a.m. with Mass to follow. Western attire is requested.
Adam’s brief story was featured on the front page of The Garden Island newspaper on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, “Cowboy Up” by reporter Darin Moriki.
Adam’s ohana sends their deepest thanks and love to our extended family, friends, co-workers at Lihue Crash Fire and Sheraton Kauai Resort, cowboys and other supporters who helped Adam in his pancreatic cancer treatments. Numerous fundraisers where held and the outpouring of support was generous and beyond what was anticipated.
Thank you to all who prayed which God gave Adam the incredible strength for the journey. To the many that spent time with Adam your visits lifted his spirit, thank you for your compassion.
Leonora Vidinha
Leonora C. Vidinha of Makaweli passed away in Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on May 19, 2015, at the age of 76. She was born in Wahiawa, Kauai on Aug. 3, 1938, and retired as a bartender with Sheraton Kauai.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Placido and Alejandra Cabancugan and one son, Mason John Vidinha.
Leonora is survived by her husband, Michael Vidinha of Makaweli; three sons, Martin (Cindy) Vidinha of Florida, Mark (Patricia) Vidinha of Idaho, Michael Vidinha of North Carolina; one daughter, Perle “Pua” (Robbie) Kaholokula of Kapaa; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one brother, Abelardo “Sonny” Cabacungan of California; three sisters, Maggie Honjo of Kalaheo, Violet Aceret of Hanapepe, Mary Leong of California; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Waimea United Church of Christ (Waimea Stone Church) with viewing from 10:15 a.m. and services beginning at 11:15 a.m. Burial will be held at Kauai Memorial Gardens at 2:15 p.m.

Rex Bernard Ancheta
Rex Bernard Ancheta of Kalaheo passed away on May 10, 2015, at the age of 55. Born on January 7, 1960, in Lihue, Hawaii, he was an Air Force Veteran as an E2 air cargo specialist and aviation technician with Aloha Airlines.
Rex is survived by his parents, Bernardo C. Ancheta and Gloria F. Ancheta; brothers, Stanley Ancheta of Kalaheo, and Floyd (Celia) Ancheta of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Gwendolyn (Kenneth) Vickers of Fayetteville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Wilma; uncles, aunts, numerous cousins, three nieces, four nephews, five great-grandnieces and one great-grandnephew.
Friends may visit the family on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. with services at 10 a.m. and burial to follow at the Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Family suggests aloha attire and is open to flowers.

Pelagio Andres
Pelagio Andres of Kalaheo, Kauai, passed away peacefully at home on April 29, 2015, at the age of 90. Born on October 15, 1924, in Dingras Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was one of the Sakada’s to migrate to Kauai in 1946 on the SS Maunawili. He retired as a truck driver with Hawaii Sugar Planters Association (HSPA).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernancio and Eusebia Andres; brother, Macario (Marcelina) Andres of the Philippines, Alfredo Andres of Oahu; sisters, Maximina Andres (Lorenzo) Verdadero of the Philippines, Avelina Andres Eugenio of the Philippines and sister-in-law Priscilla Nacnac Andres of Koloa.
Pelagio is survived by his wife, Priscilla Lagadon Coloma Andres of Kalaheo; daughter, Diane (Tony) Melchor of Koloa; son, Jeffrey Andres of Kalaheo; daughter, Norma (Clyde) Hori of Kalaheo; as well as five grandchildren; Tyson Melchor of Koloa, Kendrick Melchor of Koloa, Diandra Melchor of Koloa, Kristy (Kelly) Hadama of Kalaheo and Titus Hori of Kalaheo; two great-grandchildren, Kelson Hadama of Kalaheo and Kayden Hadama of Kalaheo; brothers, Faustino Andres of Koloa; sister-in-law Bernabela, (Alfredo) Andres of Oahu; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Please join our family in the celebration of his life on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo at 9 a.m. Mass by Father Tony Abuan will begin at 10 a.m. Luncheon to follow. Burial will be at Kauai Memorial Gardens. The family graciously requests no flowers.

John Harry Rice Plews
John H.R. Plews passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 18, 2015. John was born in Lihue, Jan. 7, 1934, on the Island of Kauai, to his loving parents John Christopher Plews and Edith Rice Plews. John’s family, part of the Kauai Rices, was of Missionary decent with direct lineage to William Hyde Rice. His maternal grandparents were Charles Atwood Rice and Grace King Rice. He had one sister, Anne Hyde Rice Plews Moncrief, who passed in June 2014. John spent his first 11 years on Kauai before heading to his Father’s homeland of England to attend his father’s former school, Charter House. After a brief stay in England, John and his family moved to Maryland where he attended Phillips Academy. He then took his academic pursuits to Yale for Undergraduate studies. Following Yale, John joined the army and was stationed in Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas. He served in the army for two years (1956-58) and then attended Harvard Law before finally returning to his family home in Hawaii in 1962.
John practiced law for many years at the law firm of Robertson, Castle, and Anthony in Honolulu. His most prominent case was the Robinson vs. McBride Water Rights case leading to a Hawaii Supreme Court decision (1973) defining water as a “public resource” and not a “privately owned resource” in the State of Hawaii. However, his real love remained the Garden Island of Kauai, or more specifically Kokee. Spending time at his rustic cabin in the mountains was what John lived for. He was an avid naturalist and would often take world renowned botanists on hikes around the Kokee State Park in order to document the native flora that grows only in those forests. He was an early member and Trustee of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens (NTBG). He was also President of the Hawaiian Mission Children’s Society 1974-76, as well as board member and ongoing member of the Historical Society. He was frequently asked to help with historical research due to his nearly photographic memory and numerous notebooks filled with his own personal research.
In addition to Hawaiian history and plants, John had a great love of his dogs. He enjoyed their company immensely and they were both his constant companions and nuclear family. His sister Anne was also very close to him. In later years he had daily conversations with her, usually via telephone, to share events and make sure all was well.
He is survived by his sister, Anne’s three daughters and grandchildren; Mary Elizabeth (Emmy) Copriviza (h. Michael), Juliet Edith Moncrief (h. Kuma), Heather Anne Waters (h. Richard); grandnephew Anthony Copriviza and grandnieces, Courtney Copriviza, Lauren Waters and Katie Waters and numerous cousins.
A memorial will be held at Lihue Cemetery on Tuesday June 30, 2015, at 4:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Donations to NTBG or Kauai Museum would be appreciated.
Ernest F. Veniegas
Ernest F. Veniegas of Hanamaulu, Kauai passed away on May 19, 2015, at Wilcox Hospital. Born on June 17, 1925, in the Philippines, he was 89 years old. Ernest retired from Wailua Golf Course as an Assistant Maintenance Man.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emilio and Felisa Veniegas.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Juanita Catbagan Veniegas; daughter, Rosemary (Christine Dean) Veniegas; son, Christopher Ernest Veniegas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves extended family, Annette and April (Caregivers) Julia, Glory and Lisa Barut, higoddaughter.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 29, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Church from 9 to 9:45 a.m. where mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Abraham Kailikini Jr.
Abraham “Braddah” Kailikini Jr. passed away on May 12, 2015, at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 64. Born on April 19, 1951, in Waimea, he was a machine operator and a jack of all trades.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Abraham Kailikini Sr and Ermine Kailikini.
Abe is survived by sons, Kevin Kailikini, Travis (Jessica Hoe) Kailikini; daughter, Shelcie (Kevin) Fune; seven grandchildren, Jordyn and Justin Fune, Bronson, Lili, Haaheo, Noah, Logan Kailikini of Hanapepe; sisters, Pamela (Ernest) Dow of Kekaha, Ruth Naumu of Lihue and Cynthia Blair of Hanapepe; numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Hanapepe Valley residence at 11 a.m.

Samuel Bukoski
Samuel “Jumbo” K. Bukoski of Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on April 2, 2015, at the age of 72. Born on June 6, 1942 in Koloa, Kauai, he was a retired police officer.
Samuel is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Bukoski, sister, Rosie Bukoski, and brother, Kenneth Bukoski.
He is survived by his wife, Lola Bukoski, Koloa; sons, Samuel Bukoski, Oahu, Keith “Kika” Bukoski, Oahu, Elton “E.J.” Bukoski, Koloa; daughters, Weena (Royden) Kusaka, Puhi and Tammilyn (Jack) Nishimoto, Lihue; brother, Frank (Lynn) Bukoski, Koloa; sisters, Elaine Panui, Koloa and Margaret “Peggy” (Dave) McCallum, Big Island, 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of his life will be on Saturday May 30, 2015, at Saint Raphael’s Catholic Church, Koloa. You may visit with the family at 8 a.m., followed by Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. The family has chosen to have a private burial.

Lorraine Efhan
Lorraine Efhan of Kapaa passed away at home on May 12, 2015, at the age of 74. She was born in Kilauea, Kauai on March 27, 1941, and worked in the tourist industry.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ciriaca and Teofilo Efhan.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Michelle Efhan; one granddaughter, Cherie Efhan, both of Kapaa; one brother, Larry (Mary) Ephan of Lawai; numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Lydgate Beach Park main pavilion from 10 a.m. with potluck to follow. Family graciously declines flowers.

Richard E. Anglemyer
Richard E. Anglemyer passed away on May 19, 2015, at Garden Isle Health Care, at the age of 82. Born on June 3, 1932, in Wibaux, Montana, he was the owner and operator of Zack’s Famous Frozen Yogurt stores in Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Minnie Anglemyer; brothers, James, Donald and Bill and sister, Elizabeth Richardson.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce; son, Richard E. Anglemyer, Jr. of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Elaitra J. Anglemyer of Tacoma, Washington; one grandchild, Zachary of Rochester, New York; cousin, Charlotte Hertz of Missoula, Montana; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at the Lihue Lutheran Church on German Hill at 9 a.m. Services officiated by Pastor Paul Kirchner, will begin at 10 a.m.
Family suggests casual attire. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lihue Lutheran Church.

Clyde Yoshimori
Clyde Tomio Yoshimori of Lihue, Kauai, passed away in his home on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the age of 67. Born on March 11, 1948, in Lihue, he worked for McBryde Sugar Plantation until they closed, then Lihue Plantation and finally Aqua Engineers, from which he retired. He was also a Vietnam Veteran who served in the Navy.
Raised in Koloa, Kauai, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn; parents, Hideto and Sumiko Yoshimori of Koloa; and sister, Aileen Schecter of Honolulu.
He is survived by his son, Isaac (Karen Ching-Silva) Yoshimori of Lawai; two daughters, Esther (James) Miller of Kapaa, Naomi (Don) Lewanski of Lihue; three grandchildren; two brothers, Warren (Janis) Yoshimori of Kapaa and Lloyd (Cheryl) Yoshimori of Kaneohe.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:15 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service officiated by the Rev. Niles Kageyama will begin at 10 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Ralph Candido Burns
Ralph Candido Burns of Kapaa passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on May 20, 2015, at the age of 54. He was born in Monterey, California on August 4, 1960. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was employed by Kauai Beach Resort as a Maintenance worker.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Saldavia.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Maria Burns of Kapaa; two daughters, Racquel Burns, Rachel Burns; two sons, Randolph Burns and Brandon Robles; one grandson; sister, Betty Crowden; brother, Duke Ezzo; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at St. Catherine Church with viewing from 8:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe at 1 p.m.
