Legislators from Kauai will recap the recently completed session at the May 28 meeting of the Lihue Business Association.
The 2015 Hawaii State Legislature adjourned May 7 after passing more than 250 bills and a $25 billion budget. Senate and House members considered issues related to health, agriculture, education, energy, technology and taxes. They reviewed and awarded several grants-in-aid requests as well, including for Kauai projects.
Sen. Ron Kouchi and Reps. Derek Kawakami, Dee Morikawa and James Tokioka will chat about the “successes, surprises, and perhaps a few frustrations along the way,” of the session.
In an unexpected turn near the end of the session, Kouchi was elected president of the Hawaii State Senate. He is expected to address his plans going forward.
There will be a time for questions from the audience.
The meeting is 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Duke’s Canoe Club at Kalapaki Beach. It is free and open to the public.
