Waimea High School, the 2015 Kauai Interscholastic Federation softball champions, earned the No. 2 seed for the DataHouse Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II softball state championships.
The HHSAA announced Sunday afternoon that the Menehune will take the field Wednesday starting at 1 p.m. in the quarterfinals at McKinley High School on Oahu.
The KIF team representative coached by Teddy Perreira will face the winner of the game between Kohala and Kalaheo high schools from Tuesday’s opening round.
Top seed for the Division II field goes to Pac-5. Aiea is the No. 3 seed and Kamehameha Schools–Hawaii gets the No.4 seed.
Other teams in the Division II pool include Nanakuli, Konawaena, Lanai, Waialua, Kohala, Kalaheo, Molokai and Saint Francis who entered the area following a 16-15 win over Kauai High School Saturday afternoon during a play-in match at Isenberg Park in Lihue.
The championship game for Division II will unfold Friday afternoon at the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium starting at 5 p.m.
Mililani Trojans draw the top seed for Division I followed by Kamehameha Schools–Kapalama in the No. 2 spot. Baldwin of the Maui Interscholastic League draws the No. 3 seed with Waiakea of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation drawing the No. 4 seed.
Other teams participating in the Division I arena include Lahainaluna, Kapolei, Maryknoll, Pearl City, Keaau, Kaiser, Campbell and Leilehua high schools.
The Division I championship game will play Friday at the UH RWSS starting at 7 p.m.
