Volunteers are still being accepted for the Kauai Habitat for Humanity’s National Women Build Week, which is being celebrated at 8 a.m Saturday.
Representative Dee Morikawa is among the more than 40 women volunteers anticipated to participate on the Kauai build at the Kauai Habitat for Humanity baseyard, 1-3410 Kaumualii Highway in Hanapepe.
“We are excited to participate in National Women Build Week,” said Stephen Spearks, the Kauai Habitat executive director. “This is a great opportunity for women of all skill levels to come together to help a family in need of better housing.”
During previous years, more than 62,000 women from all 50 states have volunteered, and this year, they are anticipating more than 300 affiliates hosting Women Build events.
David Bieker, the Kauai Habitat for Humanity’s development coordinator, said the local volunteers will start construction on the first set of homes in Phase II of the Eleele Iluna Subdivision, which is scheduled for blessing on Thursday.
