Congratulations to Ikito Muraoka and Jessie Hirano (she said seeing all the flowers and volunteers sewing lei reminded her of how Hawaii used to be — the real aloha spirit) on being the first May Day royalty for the Regency at Puakea!
Kudos to Brandon Ho and his crew on hosting the full-on May Day celebration featuring Kumu Gladys Okada (she said it was great dancing to live music) and Halau O Puakea, including Gini Stoddard (she was looking great in her May Day outfit), Kikue Yamamoto and Setsue Seki for the entertainment headlined by Cruz Control (Frank Cruz and Marino Catbagan) and Tweety (Pam Arrojo called her Haleaka) Kaluahine Juarez (no lei entries in the Kauai Museum contest this year) who even got Pam to do a number with Phyllis Amorin doing the hula.
It’s amazing to see all the kupuna (Regency’s population is 89 right now) enjoying themselves, clapping and singing.
Happy May Day!
