POIPU — Kim Medeiros, nailing top honors in the goat tying event, was named All Around Cowgirl following the Kauai All Girls Rodeo Association event Sunday at the CJM Country Stables in Poipu.
Cora Murayama, topping the steer undecorating event, was named the Reserve All Around Cowgirl for the third rodeo in the six-event KAGRA calendar.
Kim’s top event came in the goat untying event where she copped fast time honors at 10.318 seconds en route to her first place finish of a 21.690 average on two goes.
Kim nailed fourth and fifth places in the 1st D of the 3D barrel racing, corralling an 18.795 aboard Lehua and stopping the clock at 18.885 aboard Ani.
A fifth place finish in the breakaway roping rounded out Kim’s day, stopping the clocks at a 14.11 average.
During the steer undecorating event, Murayama topped the run at a 6.17 average, edging out Kim who finished fourth on an 8.33 average.
Murayama also finished third in the 2nd D of the 3D pole bending event on a 24.401 go, and fifth in the goat tying event with a 28.852 average.
The next KAGRA rodeo will be June 28 starting with the grand entry at 10 a.m. at the CJM Country Stables in Poipu. Admission is free with bleacher seating with an ocean view available along with a lunch wagon serving up local favorites at the family fun event.
