KALIHIWAI — A man was airlifted out of Kalihiwai Valley on Saturday after a woman heard his cries for help.
The 42-year-old man was treated and released from Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
According to a press release, a Kalihiwai resident notified authorities shortly after 5 p.m. that she heard the cries for help coming from the valley in a densely vegetated area.
Rescue 3 aboard Air-1, Engine 1 and Truck 1 responded. After a lengthy search, the man was found in a hau bush about 200 feet below the caller’s residence. He was secured in an air rescue vest and long-lined from Air-1 to Princeville Airport. From there, Medic 22 transported him to Wilcox.
