There will be a Celebration of Life service for Yoshiyuki Nakao at his home church, New Hope Christian Fellowship in Lihue, at 10 a.m. Sunday
Regular Sunday services and the celebration will be held in the cafeteria and outside on the lawn at Wilcox Elementary School, where Yoshi, as he was called by many, or “Mr. Yoshi,” as he was affectionately called by students and staff, had worked and volunteered for nearly half a century. The public is invited to attend.
Attendees will be invited to speak about Mr. Yoshi. Pupu will be served, a halau hula will perform and there will be a bouncy house for children.
When Mr. Yoshi died at age 80 on Feb. 25, he left behind a legacy of hundreds of green thumbs among the students he’d trained in hydroponic gardening at Wilcox Elementary School during the last 17 years.
