Ricardo Accorsi
Ricardo Accorsi, father of two and friend of many, died Sunday, April 12, 2015, at the age of 51. Born in Venezuela, Ricardo made his home in Los Angeles before sailing the world with his fiancé, Linda. When Ricardo’s ALS cut their trip short just nine months ago, they moved to Kauai to heal. Sadly, as his facial muscles — the last he had — disintegrated, he was faced with imminent isolation from those he cared about. Ricardo chose to remove the ventilator that kept him alive. He was surrounded by friends and family.
Though confined to his home since arriving on the Garden Isle, Ricardo forged many friendships in the community. His boundless interest in, and appreciation for, the world and people around him requited the affection of many.
A gifted designer, architect, musician, painter, illustrator and storyteller, Ricardo gave life to his idiosyncratic perspectives with creativity and vitality.
In his parting words, spoken through no more than his blinking eyes and Linda’s loving interpretation, Ricardo spoke of love, connectedness with others, and the importance of happiness.
He is survived by his two children, Linda, his mother, several siblings, and countless people left a little more inspired by both the quotidian and the monumental, alike.
In his memory all are encouraged, as Ricardo put it, to have fun.
