Hawaii lost to St. Mary’s 92-88 in the first round of the WNIT on Friday night in Moraga, California.
The Rainbow Wahine trailed by as many as 18 points with 13:07 left in the second half. But the ‘Bows mounted a comeback, led by 15 second-half points by senior Shawna-Lei Kuehu, who finished with 19 points in her final game as a Rainbow Wahine.
UH was led by Briana Harris who scored a career-high 24 points and tied her career-high with five 3-pointers. Ashleigh Karaitiana finished her final UH game with 12 points and was tied with a team-high six rebounds with Harris.
St. Mary’s closed the game by making 13-of-14 free throws to seal the win. UH had four players foul out —Karaitiana, Kuehu, Harris and Destiny King.
St. Mary’s was led by Shannon Mauldin, who scored 32 points while Lauren Nicholson added 23.
It was the final collegiate game for four Hawaii seniors — Morgan Mason, Shawlina Segovia, Ashleigh Karaitiana and Shawna-Lei Kuehu.
