LIHUE — Girl Scouts will be selling cookies at Kukui Grove Center in the food court area from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through the weekend because of the spring break.
“We have to sell 700 boxes each,” said Alexis Cacabelos, a Girl Scout with Troop 823. “We have five girls and we each have to do 700 boxes.”
Led by Girl Scout leader Teresa Caires, the five girls have been hustling cookies at both the Kmart store and Longs Drugs at Kukui Grove before taking over the food court area for the week.
One of the team mothers helping said the girls are determined to meet their goal of 3,500 boxes, and since starting their booth sales two weeks ago, have worked through about half of their goal.
Girl Scout cookies are available through March at booth sales sites around the island, or until flavors run out.
Shereen Hoopii, the Girl Scout membership and program service coordinator, said shoppers can use the cookie finder app by visiting www.girlscouts.org.
