LIHUE — Phone calls flowed onto the airways at The KQNG radio station Tuesday morning as the Hoedown for Hope co-chairs, Yvette Sahut and Jose Aguayo, joined Ron Wiley in soliciting bids for the VIP Table for 10 and all of its amenities donated by Captain Andy’s for the fundraiser.
The Hoedown for Hope takes place Saturday at the Kilohana Luau Pavilion with doors opening at 5 p.m.
“Our goal is to get at least $2,500 for this table, which features premium viewing of the featured entertainment, Maddie and Tae,” Wiley said.
They did even better.
Following a morning of bidding shoe-horned between birthday and St. Patrick’s Day requests, the winning bid came in at $2,800.
Aguayo said in addition to the entertainment lineup, Hoedown attendees can bid on a 2009 Brabus Cabriolet smart car donated by a Kauai family. The car is on display at the King Auto Center, this year’s Hoedown Platinum Buckle Sponsor, showroom through Saturday.
Other community businesses have added their support to the premier fundraising gala.
“Year after year, our support from Kauai’s business community is astounding,” Sahut said. “This event’s continued success is a measure of our community’s dedication toward finding a cure for cancer, and helping Kauai residents battle this disease.”
The American Cancer Society’s goal is to raise $70,000 to help fund cancer-related programs.
