LIHUE — Officials from the Kauai Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section are investigating a traffic collision on Kuhio Highway that’s snarling traffic near the Wailua Golf Course and Kauai Community Correctional Center.
The traffic collision, according to the Kauai Police Dispatch Center, occurred around 8 a.m. just south of the Lydgate Park entrance and near KCCC.
Officers are conducting alternating traffic flow at this time, with intermittent closures while they work to clear the scene.
KPD officials say they anticipate opening one lane of traffic in each direction by 11:30 a.m. There is no estimated timeline on when the highway will be reopened, but traffic investigations generally take at least one to two hours, KPD officials wrote in an email.
