Sophia Akita
Sophia Gonsalves Akita of Kaneohe, Oahu, formerly of Lihue, Kauai passed away on February 19, 2015, at the age of 94. She was born in Koloa on March 14, 1920, and was a retired Kauai hotel boutique salesclerk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Akita; parents, Juan and Francisca Gonsalves; sisters, Ramona Castillo, Pilad Ruiz, Petra Ruiz, Julia Pacheco, Mabel Alesna, Margaret Ogao; brothers, John Gonsalves, Frank Gonsalves and Louis Gonsalves.
She is survived by two daughters, Arlene (Ray) Pestana of Kaneohe, Oahu and Priscilla (Joey) Flores of Omao, Kauai; one son, Leonard Perez of Show Low, Arizona; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia, Kauai with viewing from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire suggested.

Marie Lemke
Marie Carol Aguiar Lemke of Kapaa passed away in Garden Isle Health Care on Feb. 27, 2015, at the age of 90. She was born in Papaikou, Hawaii on May 30, 1924. She was a cattle rancher and owner of Lemke Ranch and also entertained and sang in the USO in her younger days.
Preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. Lemke; parents, Senator Manuel and Mrs. Beatrice Aguiar; sister, Beatrice Roberts.
She is survived by two daughters, Beatrice (Leroy) Lemke-Newman of Kapaa, Kulamanu (Wayne) Medeiros of Lihue; three sons, Paul Lemke (Tamara Neuberger) of Kapaa, William “Bill” (Darrelyn) Lemke of Lihue, Albert Lemke of Kapaa; 10 grandchildren, Summer (John) Holwegner, Kianalani Medeiros, Ashley Medeiros, Paul Nahio Lemke, Taylor Lemke, Kaulana Lemke, Kainoa Lemke, Makana Lemke, Aurora Lemke, Kekoa Lemke; three great-grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Seyer of Connecticut; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at St. Catherine Church in Kapaa with visitation from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m.

Colleen Okamoto
Colleen Corr Okamoto of Kekaha, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Jan. 30, 2015, at the age of 68. Born on March 12, 1946, in Waimea, Kauai, she was a branch manager with Waimea and Eleele KCFCU.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and May Corr; two brothers, James Corr Jr. and Richard Corr; and sister, Goldie Kahale.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Okamoto; three sons, Larry Okamoto of Kekaha, Jason (Loretta) Okamoto of Keaau and Jon Okamoto of Kekaha; daughter, Lorene Okamoto of Kekaha; four grandchildren; two hanai grandchildren; two hanai great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wilfred (Patricia) Kualii of Puhi , Charles (Jean) Corr of Texas and John (Sandy) Corr of California; two sisters, Barbara Velasquez of Utah and Aletha Matsusaka of Kalaheo; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Church of Latter Day Saints, Kekaha Ward. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. with an 11 a.m. mass. A Celebration of Life is to follow at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center. Family suggests casual attire and to omit flowers.

Leslie Yaka
Leslie Soichi Yaka of Hanamaulu passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 27, 2015, at the age of 90. He was born in Hanamaulu on Oct. 7, 1924, and retired as Manager of Lihue Federal Credit Union.
Preceded in death by his parents, Sojo and Masako; brother, Roy Yaka; grandson, Cameron Yaka; great-grandson, Keean Relacion Nuivo.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Higashi Yaka of Hanamaulu; two sons, Clinton (Tuesday) Yaka of Idaho, Jason (Linda) Yaka of California; one daughter, April (Willie) Nuivo of Hanamaulu; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herbert (Eva) Yaka and Patrick Yaka; four sisters, Tomiko Sokei, Miyoko (Harry) Wakayama, Violet (Howard) Abe and Dorothy Mahelona.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Lihue Hongwanji Mission with visitation from 10 a.m. and services celebrated at 11 a.m.

Floyd Kawahara
Floyd Fumio Kawahara of Koloa passed away at home on Feb. 28, 2015, at the age of 70. He was born in Waimea, Kauai on July 18, 1944, and retired as a Chef with Sheraton Kauai Resort.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Kelli-Ann Kawahara and father, Kazuyoshi Kawahara.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Kawahara of Koloa; mother, Tomie Kawahara of Oahu; brother, Niles (Karen) Kawahara of Maui; sister, Pamela (Gary) Yonamine of Oahu; numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.

Jim O’Donoghue
James “Jim” O’Donoghue of Kalaheo, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on Feb. 28, 2015, at the age of 90.
Born in Tipperary, Ireland on May 29, 1924, He was a retired iron worker.
He is survived by his wife, June O’Donoghue, Kalaheo; daughters, Theresa Satchell, Honolulu, Maureen (Charlie) Hiramoto, Kalaheo; sons, Kevin (Terri) O’Donoghue, Oregon City, Steven O’Donoghue, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The celebration of his life will be private.
The family is being assisted by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary in Koloa, Kauai.
Denise Ladao
Denise Ladao, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on Jan. 27, 2015, at the age of 47. Born in Los Angeles, CA, on June 9, 1967, she was a nurse at Southwest Medical.
She is survived by her husband, Ryan Ladao; daughter: Tiare Ladao; son, Cameron Ladao; mother, Carmen Samiano Ubasa; father, Richard Ubasa; sister, Kim Ubasa, brother Richard Andrew Ubasa and many she touched throughout her life.
Services will be held at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa on March 5, 2015. Visit with the family at 9 a.m., Mass at 11 a.m., Burial to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary. Casual wear is suggested. Flowers welcome.

Paul Mills
Paul Allan Mills of Lihue, passed away on February 20, 2015, at the age of 63. He was born on Aug. 31, 1951, in Illinois and was a retired golf professional.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Joy E. Mills of Lihue; a son, Chadwick Mills of Colorado; three brothers: Michael (Angie Smallidge) Mills of Kilauea, J. R. (Ginny) Mills and Robert (Ruby) Mills, both of Illinois; a sister, Verna Jones of Illinois.

Ruth Fernandez
Ruth Wramp Fernandez of Kekaha, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on Feb. 17, 2015, at the age of 95. Born on September 3, 1919, in Waimea, Kauai, she was a teacher for Saint Theresa’s School.
Preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Lily Wramp; sister, Ethel Wramp Dias; husband, George Fernandez.
She is survived by her daughters, Patti Ann (Steven) Niau, Lori (Don) Almarza; sons, George (Maria) Fernandez Jr., Gerritt (Barbara) Fernandez; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister, Phoebe Jean Wramp; nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Saint Raphael’s Catholic Church, Koloa.
Visitation at 9 a.m. followed by Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
