Charming Yokotake
Charming Tsuyo Mahailani Yokotake of Hanalei passed away in Garden Isle Health Care on Jan. 30, 2015, at the age of 88. She was born in North Hilo, Hawaii on Dec. 24, 1926, and retired as a dispatcher with Hanalei Police Station.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard T. Yokotake Sr. and son, Edwin Ching Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Charm (Robert) Mizushima of Harbor City, California; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives; 4 step-children, one sister and three brothers.
A celebration of her life was held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at Wai’oli Hui’ia Church in Hanalei. Family requested no flowers and no koden.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Sophia Akita
Sophia Gonsalves Akita of Kaneohe, Oahu, formerly of Lihue, Kauai passed away on Feb. 19, 2015, at the age of 94. She was born in Koloa on March 14, 1920, and was a retired Kauai hotel boutique salesclerk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Akita; parents, Juan and Francisca Gonsalves; sisters, Ramona Castillo, Pilad Ruiz, Petra Ruiz, Julia Pacheco, Mabel Alesna, Margaret Ogao; brothers, John Gonsalves, Frank Gonsalves and Louis Gonsalves.
She is survived by two daughters, Arlene (Ray) Pestana of Kaneohe, Oahu and Priscilla (Joey) Flores of Omao, Kauai; one son, Leonard Perez of Show Low, Arizona; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia, Kauai with viewing from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire suggested.

Donna Buhrman
Donna Marie (Dawna Su) Buhrman of Kapahi, Kauai made her transition due to complications of pneumonia and heart failure on Jan. 31, 2015, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 74. Born on Aug. 15, 1940, in Alhambra, California to William and Marie Reaves she was a retired nurse, healer, disabilities advocate and counselor.
She is survived by brother, Andrew Reaves of San Diego, California; daughter, Aveline (Larry) Belle of Oakland, California; and sons, David (Susan) Buhrman of Wimberly, Texas and William (Bill) Buhrman of El Cerrito, California; plus former husband Frank Buhrman of San Diego, California; nieces, nephew, grandchildren and extended family and a large, loving Kauai community as well as colleagues, students and friends around the islands and throughout the world.

Denise Ladao
Denise Ladao, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on Jan. 27, 2015, at the age of 47. Born in Los Angeles, California on June 9, 1967, she was a nurse at Southwest Medical.
She is survived by her husband, Ryan Ladao; daughter: Tiare Ladao; son, Cameron Ladao; parents: mother, Carmen Samiano Ubasa, father, Richard Ubasa; sister: Kim Ubasa, brother: Richard Andrew Ubasa and many she touched throughout her life.
Services will be held at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa on March 5, 2015. Visitation with the family at 9 a.m., Mass at 11 a.m., burial to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary. Casual wear is suggested. Flowers welcome.

Ruth Fernandez
Ruth Wramp Fernandez of Kekaha, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on Feb. 17, 2015, at the age of 95. Born on September 3, 1919, in Waimea, Kauai, she was a teacher for Saint Theresa’s School.
Preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Lily Wramp; sister, Ethel Wramp Dias; husband, George Fernandez.
She is survived by her daughters, Patti Ann (Steven) Niau, Lori (Don) Almarza, sons, George (Maria) Fernandez Jr., Gerritt (Barbara) Fernandez; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild, sister, Phoebe Jean Wramp, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Saint Raphael’s Catholic Church, Koloa.
Visitation at 9 a.m. followed by Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
The family is being assisted by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary in Koloa, Kauai.
Fusetsu Miyazaki
Fusetsu Miyazaki of Eleele passed away on Feb. 12, 2015, at Kauai Care Center at the age of 100. Born on June 12, 1914, in Makaweli, Kauai, he was a surveyor with the McBryde Sugar Plantation and a World War II 442nd Infantry Regiment in the 100th Battalion Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Mitsuko Miyazaki; three daughters, Anne Yoshioka of Wailuku, Maui, Laura Miyazaki of Honolulu and Janice (David) Ishibashi of Kalaheo, Kauai; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Private services were held. Family requests no koden.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Paul Mills
Paul Allan Mills of Lihue, passed away on Feb. 20, 2015, at the age of 63. He was born on Aug. 31, 1951, in Illinois and was a retired golf professional.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Joy E. Mills of Lihue; a son, Chadwick Mills of Colorado; three brothers, Michael (Angie Smallidge) Mills of Kilauea, J. R. (Ginny) Mills and Robert (Ruby) Mills, both of Illinois; a sister, Verna Jones of Illinois.

Josefina Aguzar
Josefina Laudencia Aguzar of Kapaa passed away in Garden Isle Health Care on Feb. 26, 2015, at the age of 84. She was born in San Fernando, La Union, Philippines on July 10, 1930, and retired as a Personal Officer with the Philippine Postal Corporation.
Preceded in death by her husband, Calixto Aguzar and son, Arsenio Aguzar.
She is survived by her son, Arturo (Jocelyn) Aguzar of the Philippines; 2 daughters, Lourdes (Eddie) Obiano of Kapaa and Marie Jo (Frank Taitague) Aguzar of Hanamaulu; 10 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m.

Dean Takashima
Dean Edward Takashima of Kapaa, passed away on Feb. 20, 2015, at the age of 63. He was born on January 19, 1952, at Lihue’s Wilcox Hospital. Dean retired early due to his battle with emphysema.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Hanae Takashima of Kapaa. He is survived by brother, Dexter Takashima (Kuulei) of Kekaha; sister, Mona Takashima Kitasoe (Raymond) of Belmont, CA; and brother Galvin Takashima (Mary) of Millington, TN, and 4 nieces and 2 nephews.
